Please read these terms carefully before using CodePaw. By using the app you agree to be bound by them.

CodePaw is rated 13+ on the App Store. A parent or guardian must review and accept these Terms on behalf of a child, and parental consent is required before any paid subscription is activated.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the CodePaw application ("the App"), published by Chris Vanderplank (Intrepid-Developer), trading as Chris Vanderplank ("we", "us", "our"), based in the United Kingdom.
By downloading or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App. If a child is using the App, the parent or guardian who downloaded and set up the App accepts these Terms on the child's behalf.
For apps downloaded from the Apple App Store, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA) also applies. You can review it here: Apple Standard EULA.
CodePaw is rated 13+ on the App Store under Apple’s age-rating guidelines. Children under 18 must have their parent or guardian’s permission to use the App, and we encourage family supervision for younger users.
A parental consent gate is built into the App for all subscription purchase flows. A parent or guardian must complete this step before any paid subscription can be activated. By completing the parental gate and authorising a purchase, the parent or guardian confirms they:
We encourage parents and guardians to use Apple's Screen Time and Family Sharing controls to manage their child's app usage and in-app purchases.
CodePaw is a learning companion for families on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. On devices that support Apple Intelligence, CodePaw provides a full AI-powered experience including conversational tutoring across subjects such as science, maths, coding, storytelling, art, history, and geography, as well as voice mode and on-device image creation. On all Apple devices — including those without Apple Intelligence — CodePaw provides curated courses, a JavaScript coding workspace with structured lessons, and personalisation features.
Where available, the App uses Apple Intelligence and other on-device frameworks exclusively. No internet connection is required for core app functionality. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
The features available in CodePaw depend on whether your device supports Apple Intelligence:
Apple Intelligence availability is determined by Apple and depends on your device model, operating system version, and region. We do not control which devices support Apple Intelligence. Feature availability may change as Apple updates its platform requirements.
CodePaw Premium (see Section 5) unlocks the full course library on all devices regardless of Apple Intelligence support.
CodePaw offers both free and paid features:
Pricing may vary by region and is displayed in your local currency in the App Store at the time of purchase.
All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. By starting a subscription, you (or the parent/guardian) agree that:
To manage or cancel a subscription, go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your Apple device. Family Sharing setup and eligibility are managed through your Apple account settings.
On devices with Apple Intelligence, CodePaw uses on-device language models to generate responses. These AI-powered features are recommended for users aged 11 and above, or for younger children using the App with a parent or guardian. While the App instructs the AI to keep all content age-appropriate and educational, AI responses are generated dynamically and we cannot guarantee they will always be perfectly accurate, complete, or appropriate in every context. This section applies only to devices where Apple Intelligence is available; on devices without Apple Intelligence, no AI-generated content is produced.
Because CodePaw relies on smaller on-device models rather than larger cloud-hosted AI systems, responses may sometimes be less detailed, less broad in knowledge, or less reliable on niche, complex, or recent topics. The AI may make mistakes, omit important context, or answer with too much confidence.
Important: AI-generated content is for educational and entertainment purposes only. It should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional advice in any field, including medical, legal, financial, or educational matters. Parents and guardians are encouraged to supervise younger children and to engage with their child's use of the App.
We are not liable for any decisions made based on AI-generated content within the App.
You agree to use CodePaw only for its intended educational purpose. You must not:
The CodePaw app, including its name, logo, cat character designs, artwork, curriculum content, and source code, is owned by Chris Vanderplank / Intrepid-Developer and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our prior written consent.
The Kokoro TTS model weights bundled within the App are used under the Apache 2.0 licence. The MLX Swift framework and MLXUtilsLibrary are used under the MIT licence. CodePaw's code editor uses STTextView under a commercial licence, and syntax highlighting is powered by STTextView-Plugin-Neon together with Neon and tree-sitter based language components under their respective licences. All other third-party components are used in accordance with their respective licences.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. AI features require a compatible Apple device with Apple Intelligence enabled; we make no guarantee of Apple Intelligence availability on all hardware or software configurations. Features that do not require Apple Intelligence (such as courses, the JavaScript workspace, and colour themes) are available on all supported iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Intrepid-Developer and its owner shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy. CodePaw collects no personal data. All app data is stored locally on your device. Please read the Privacy Policy for full details.
We reserve the right to update or modify the App and these Terms at any time. Changes to the Terms will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, please stop using the App.
We may add, modify, or remove features at any time. We will aim to maintain compatibility with existing subscriptions but reserve the right to make changes to premium features with reasonable notice.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless local consumer law in your country provides otherwise.
If you are located in the European Union, you may also benefit from any mandatory consumer protections provided by the law of your country of residence.

By downloading or using CodePaw, you (or the parent/guardian acting on a child's behalf) acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms of Service.
